It looks like I will be getting a grenadilla XL after all. My teacher had a big objection to me buying a cocobolo oboe. I tried to do some research on the choice of wood. It seems that generally, cocobolo is a bit softer than grenadilla. I guess the "blown-out" effect won't be set in so quickly on the grenadilla as the one I tried actually have a much higher level of resistance as compared to the cocobolo. So, as much as I like the cocobolo's feel and sound, I would have to settle with a grenadilla XL after all. fjozn at 4:48 PM | |
