my thoughts |
There was this Chinese guy talking to his Malay female friend on my way back home. His English was atrocious! Is this the product of the Singapore education system? Someone who can't even speak proper English? Not Queen's English, but just a properly spoken English sentence? The moment I got off the bus, I heard some secondary school boys talking. Actually, I wasn't sure if they were talking or cursing. Their conservation was like this: "you know ah, @^#%^@%^!$!$%@%@%" "ya man! @$@%@#^#$&^#^" "@#@$%@$@$@ I agree!" What's with the language these days? It's not properly spoken and constantly decorated with so many "ornaments" that it would put a baroque soloist to shame. Even my army sergeant spoke vulgarities in proper English. Tsk tsk. Well, I guess my spoken English isn't that good after all. I sorta re-evaluate myself just now. I thought about the normal conversation I make with my friends. As a child, I didn't pay much attention in my early phonics class in Primary School. That's probably one reason why my spoken English isn't so good now. At least my written English is still presentable. I hope. =P fjozn at 9:04 PM | |
