On a happier note

Enough with unhappy things, let's talk about the happy stuffs.

Spiderman 2
Essentially, this is a very nice show with good CG. I really like how they rendered the scenes when Spidey was "flying" through the streets of New York. The CG for Doctor Octopus was good too. Very impressive. I shall not disclose too much this time round, except maybe I thought it was good that some people discovered his identity in this movie. I'll definitely watch the 3rd installment when it's released in 2007.

Kaitze's Wedding
The day had finally come for him and I'm happy for him! The wedding dinner was quite rowdy with all the musicians around. Haha! It seems that all the wedding dinners that I've with musicians are always fun and noisy. The yam-seng is always the most choral (resolution of the dominant to the tonic), loudest (sforzando to fortissisimo) and longest (circular breathing), the couple would always end up doing or eating/drinking something funny, etc.

It was interesting to sit at a table with many oboists. Well, it wasn't that many really, only 5 and 6 if you add in Rasull, who is generally a woodwind player. The regular people were there, Frankie, Yibin, Audi and surprise! Joost Flach! For the uninformed Reader, Joost was formerly an oboist in the Singapore Symphony who is now playing for the Malaysian Philharmonic.

It was nice to chat with him throughout the dinner. He's quite a nice guy, perhaps I will go to him for a master class when I'm in Kuala Lumpur. Anyway, he just came back from the International Double Reed Society Conference in Melbourne. I've wanted to go but didn't because of the money factor. I think he tried the cocobolo XL I've initially wanted to buy there. Haha!

Lesson
The lesson with Elaine this morning was quite ok. I haven't really prepared my piece very well, but spent time chatting about the reeds I have. I saw the Rigoutat Cor Anglais she bought back from Paris. Well, it looks normal but I quite like the case. Too bad it doesn't really provide much protection. It's technically just a piece of cushion between the instrument and the outside. So once you drop it? *urgh*

Well, I shall surf for a double case now. See you guys/gals on the next post.
